The excursion is about to exceed the height of my 7.5' garage door and lose it's nice warm spot in the garage.
It seems Buffalo and Chicago have something in common 'Mountains of Salt' stored ready for the slightest snow.
Yeti is right! Road Salt is the worst!
Looking into storing mine somewhere this winter!
Live in burb's of chicago (palatine - nw) and this will be my first winter with the 'X'. Still completely stock!
I have had it through several car washes - Citgo auto (pull in the tow mirrors) and the Delta Sonic - no problems.
I also have a 1995 Burb that has never been in the garage (since new) and just doing the auto-wash and under carrige wash (Delta Sonic), about once a week, has kept the truck looking new.
Have to say that with the way they paint'em these days, I have not seen to many late model truck (with proper care) have problems with paint/rust (as compared to pre-90's) even with no garage.
Hope this helps. Will keep an eye on the rims though!

When its warm enough to wash your truck...its warm enough to eat away as well!!
>will just sit covered up on my driveway all winter! I have a
>daily driver for that! should I worry about anything! and I
>was wrong it is that magnesium crap they use out here as
>well!
As long as you have a daily driver so your truck can avoid the yuck on the roads then you should be fine. Before you cover it make sure it is clean as possible so you don't have clearcoat scratches from pulling on the cover. I would imagine that the cover you have(sounds nice) has a drawstring system to hold it in place. The reason you want to have your truck clean is for when the wind kicks up and starts rustling the cover around= sliding on dirt on paint. Just double wax it soon and clean it off a little before you cover it and you should be fine.
