Talking HAHA! Ford Tough!

Well, this should maybe be in the Ford vs. The Competition forum, or maybe the towing forum or maybe even the 1987-1996 Ford Trucks forum! Oh well.

Anyways.......I was at work today (I cut trees for a living) and we had to drive across a customers grass with our bucket truck. It's a GMC......I know, I know.....my dad bought it and it's not my fault! I told him to buy the Ford, and so did my mom! But, he didn't! So anyways, we put down 3/4" plywood on the ground so we wouldn't rut it up because it's a little soft and drove across the grass about 100 feet. I got up in the bucket and work on the tree for about one hour and fifteen minutes then come down for lunch. After lunch we chip up all the brush and clean up and pull out the dump truck and chipper.

So, then I go to back out the bucket truck and it's stuck! I was like "come on stupid GMC!" So we try everything and spend about 10 minutes and nothing happens. I am on a VERY slight slope and the truck is sitting on the plywood boards. They keep getting thrown out from the tires spinning! SO this is just great! How do you get a huge truck (at least a 5-7 ton) out from the guys front lawn?!?!

So, I call my dad and he brings over the 1987 Ford F-250 4x4 that we plow with. We hook the F-250 up to the back of the bucket truck with our 3/4" bull rope that we use for roping big branches. Get the Ford and put it in 4 wheel drive LOW and my dad starts to pull the truck ahead while I am in the bucket TRYING to back up. My dad thinks to himself "I will pull ahead slowly until the rope is tight then give it some more gas and pull him out". Well, he barely gives it any gas at all! He is waiting for the rope to get tight when all of a sudden he looks back and the bucket truck is out! The F-250 pulled out the bucket truck NO PROBLEM! I was impressed! That's my truck for plowing and man does that thing rock!

Just wanted to brag and rack up another point for Ford POWER!

-Matt

P.S. The bucket truck did have a winch on it, so it could have pulled itself out.....but it was on the FRONT! LOL!

you mean the ground is still soft and theres no snow up there???

just working in MN today we had the fun of driving the chip truck over a 2 - 3 foot snowbank, and across the snow covered yard. we've been driving on lawns for a while already almost a month now i think, without rutting up the yard.

Hey BuiltTough!

We haven't really gotten any snow....just a little bit here and there. I wish the ground was frozen! Then we wouldn't have to out boards down!

P.S. I am thinking you liked my story, yes?

LOL! We have been stuck A LOT worse! I just loved the fact that our F250 pulled out that huge bucket truck with no problem! The tires didn't even spin! I love Fords..........so much!

Re: HAHA! Ford Tough!

So your sayin that its the GMCs fault for losing traction!? Once you lose traction its tough to get it back. You must have a heavy foot.

No point for Furd

Of course it's not the GMC's fault, it can't help it if it's not a FORD! (Sorry, I just couldn't resist)

First, no I didn't have a heavy foot. And second of all, our dump truck was in the same spot and it got out and it had a chipper on the back that weighs a lot. It lost traction but I got it out! Point awarded back to Ford. Judges final call!

Do you have stock tires on the GMC and not on the Furd?

They both just have regular tires. The bucket truck is about 5-7 tons in weight. It has huge tires. The dump truck also has regular tires. No special ones with lugs or anything. Just regular 2 ton truck tires.

-Matt

P.S. Who calls Ford "Furd" anyways......???????
