the cycling of glow plugs did nothing. the engine smokes worse when its cold (engine not ambient temp outside). it really doesn't get that cold in houston. the problem occurs after the truck has been setting (overnight) and acts like its flooded. i was wondering if it could be an injector possibly leaking down or the icp regulator. what do ya'll think?

It sounds like you have some bad glow plugs, can you here the glow plug relay kick on when you trun the truck on before starting it??? if so you may have several bad plugs, not to bad of a job to change out
