power locks

I have a 93' 350 crew cab XL. It does not have power locks BUT I need to put them in. Does anyone know if my truck is prewired for them and also, what kind of motor I need to run them? I am very mechanically inclined and am looking for some direction as the Ford dealership wants $100 to just look at my truck and tell me if it is prewired. A part number for the motor would be great! Thanks! Amy

I have added power locks to my '93. I can almost guarantee there is no factory wiring in place. Here is by far the most cost effective way to add power locks. I would reccomend a generic aftermarket kit. These can be purchased off Ebay for $30 or less. (search power lock kit ) These kits are fairly simple to install. First you mount the unit in the door. You just have to drill a couple holes and bolt them in. Next, there is a extension rod with a clamp on it. This clamps the motor rod to the existing lock rod. I installed the cheapest kit I could find and it has worked flawlessly.

If you want to go with oem parts you can do that too. The oem
actuators look like they go for about $60-$70 each. You will also have to come up with a plug to connect to the plug on the oem actuator.

Either way you will have to do some wiring. It is a pretty simple setup depending on what switches you are using.

If you need details on the wiring, let me know what type of switches you will be using.
