First, around my parts they are scarfed up quicker, then an Ethopian runs to a buffet. Secondly, give me a link to WHO sells them new! I thought they stopped making these around the turn of the last century.

have a 6" record vise that was used and abused in a truck shop for about 15yrs, we pulled all benches off walls when new owners took over so one vise made it home with me,
mounted to a piece of 6" sqare tubing that is welded isde of a 22.5" truck rim on floor. pound away no trouble at all

They still make them But they are an import and shiped directly from Blanchardville, WI 53516. I know the older ones were forged "No cast junk" Try giving Old World Anvils a call to see If that model is or not... That is if your really interested. Although this is a old style peice of equipment.... You can still find them new along with anvils, tongs, platen tables ect.ect.

Let me guess the antiqe crowd will buy them and use or sell them as yard art..

Thanks for the link, at least I know I have options on getting one. Sarcasm? Around my parts, between people moving OUT of the cities and getting property and all the people who get interested in blacksmithing every year, due to the Ren Fest, I've seen them go for $200.00. That's out of my price range (for now).

I should point out, before the moving out craze (and PBS antiques roadshow) people used to buy these all day for $75.00 or less, in useable condition (not needing new springs, welding of broken parts, etc).

I still say that those old world vices look like something Torquemada would have used during the Spanish Inquisition.
