i just instaled a 351 ho into my 79 f150 now when i go to start it it seems to fire after ilet go off the key but not right away .when i first crank it it dosent fire .expecialy when you first turn it over what gives .. it seams that it hits later ...thanks
Sounds like you are missing the "start' voltage.
You could always run a new wire from the starter relay small "I" terminal to the coil +, or make sure the wire on there now is clean and tight and does go to the coil +.
The problem also could be lack of start voltage to the ignition module. The white wire to the module needs 12 volts from a "hot when key in start" circuit. So you could have a problem with this wire.
Same cure connect the white wire from the module to the starter relay "I" terminal, or you can trace the problem between the module and the ignition switch.
Or maybe a dead/dying ignition module.
check your c onnections could be a bad ground out of the dist black wire when you shut it down it collasps the primary voltage in the coil that gives you the spark at shutdown or try turning the key to run and jump the starter at the solinoid that will tell you if its a starting voltage problem....make sure you have it in park or nuetral when you do this
