Hey guys, I'm new here but kinda curious about powerstrokes. I am EMT and run with a local rescue squad and of course both of our rigs are powerstrokes. My friend and I were cleaning them and making sure everything was good on them a couple nights ago and when I took the airbox off I noticed a sensor on the left hand side of the air box unplugged. I'm not sure what kind of sensor it is but it kinda looked like an IAT sensor thats on my cummins. Can anyone tell me what that sensor was and why it may have ben unplugged? Did it do anything by not being plugged in? I plugged it in and took it out for a drive and didn't notice anything different. Thanks for the help!
Cumminsdude, the 6.0 came out in 2003. The Powerstroke in the ambulance is the 7.3 Powerstroke. I'll ask the admin to move this thread to the 7.3 forum.
Cummins Dude-
The sensor illuminates a light on the dash thereby informing the driver that yet another Daimler/Cummins has become lodged in the air filter assembly of your powerstroke. When this happens, it is time to replace the filter and reset the vacuum indicator gauge.
Exercise caution when changing the filter to be certain Mopar parts are not left in the bottom of the air box. Look out for loose front axle control arms, bad fuel lift pumps, Bosch common-rail injection systems, broken switch gear, worn front-cartridge bearings, oversized exhaust tips, inflated horsepower statistics, foreign assembly stickers, and loose German marks.

Hey thanks for the help. I didn't come here bashing powerstrokes, merely asking a question because I was interested in learning more about them. Sorry if I own a "Daimler/Cummins" but I happen to get a good deal and enjoy the truck. I have nothing against fords just couldn't afford one right now. I really do appreciate your sincereness on my question and I won't be bothering anyone on this forum anymore. I'm really glad to know how mature some people really are. Thanks again for your time.
Why get rid of one comment and not the others? I don't feel the need to have to change my user name just to suite others. I'm fine with the way it is but thanks for the offer. I know on other forums such as a dodge forum, people with ford user names don't get treated like this. Guess I expected too much. I won't be posting anything other than in this section if someone does decide to try and help.
I guess I just thought people could of been a little more mature about it......Guess I was wrong.
I thought the post was humorous but then I laugh at Ford, GM, ricer, -whatever jokes. I don't think you have been treated badly based on what I have seen on other forums. However I do think you may come across as having a very thin skin. If you can take the chip off of your shoulder now and let some people help you I think everything will be OK. If you have any other problems email me.
