Question is...What would you be willing to spend? That is a good looking truck, at least in the pictures. There is an awfully large saucer shaped item behind the master cylinder for not having power brakes . I would just be currious to know the reserve, my guess would be in the range of $5k, but sometimes you get lucky.

Happy shopping, and oh yea, Walcome aboard!

Easily a $6000 truck. I would have to look at it closer to be sure though. The devil is always in the details! They aren't making 65-66 F100s anymore you know!!

Kind of sucks they took they chrome trim off. No more 352 either, just a 302. Still a nice looking truck, but it has all the wrong stuff done for me. Depends on what you like, but I'd go $4900 -4speed

I would be VERY nervous about this one. Look at the sellers rating. Only an idiot or a crook sells high dollar stuf on eBay with a rating of zero. Simply put -- you sell low dollar small stuff first to establish that you are for real and honest.

I also really do not like it that they pulled the trim. Radio looks to be cut into the dash too. Was it really a custom cab? Maybe just some custom cab parts slipped into a base model.

I guess you can't go too far wrong if you drive to Texas to look at it before you take delivery, or have another club member check it out. But man, I would NEVER have that one shipped to me without looking it over first.

Just my $.02

jenner,

It's not a custom cab, it's a plain jane, standard cab It did not come with brite trim so none has been removed, or somebody did remove the chrome bumpers, But added brite 66 grille, headlamp doors, and windshield Mldg, to it. Something is whacky there.

He may get $3500 for it with decent sellers rating, but with that zero it'll top out at $2.5K $3K, probably or he'll sit on it a while. Around here that truck, or one like it, judging by what's apparent in Photos may bring $2K to $2500 if it's as sweet as seller claims it is, which I doubt by what I see/read.

"Repair Needed" under mat in bed is a huge unknown, did it ROT in 2 years since he did his "complete restoration"? If not, how can he say it was "Complete Restoration" then hide the bad bed floor under mat, then mention a "problem" but not make it visable. Makes me wonder what he hid under his fresh paint & bondo?

I'd worry about a manuial steering truck w/such a small steering wheel too. I mean with P/S it's okay, but with manual steering, I just dunno about that????.

I wouldn't send any money until I had a good look at truck up close & personal, inside & out & especially underneath, with a magnet in my hand.

just my $.02 worth FBp

I have a huge "saucer shaped" item behind the master cylinder and I don't have p/s. I do have disc brakes up front, and think that's why.

I'll put a pic in my gallery tomorrow.

Z-S,

I think Mike Did say NO Power Brakes? I'm the one who mentioned P/S. The e-bay post said no power brakes or steering.

It's just another reason the whole thing is wierded out to me. I still can't get over not repairing the bed floor though? WHy would anyone do that. I guess it's like all those Mustang "Frame Off" restorations people are always claiming they do.

I don't know how to get a frame off a Mustang because I never have seen one with a frame, well maybe I did see one, but that's because it was sitting on an early Bronco 4X4 frame.

The truck is about 45 mins away so I went to see it yesterday.

The paint is even better than the pictures. With two small exceptions, there is no rust anywhere. The cab mounts and such look almost new. The front corners of the bed have slight rusting in the welded seams. The bed mat does not appear to drain well underneath and could have caused this.

The engine compartment condition is better than average with only a few minor "bubba" type repairs. Mechanicals appear ok with no drips or leaks apparent. Cold engine cranked with one click of the key and ran smoothly. No smoke etc.

The owner is huge and had to use the small steering wheel to be able to fit behind it. (The seat has been replaced and is deeper than the original.) The original steering wheel is included.

The suspension system has been overhauled at some point and it drives straight and true. While hard to steer until you got rolling, the truck rode and drove better than my '01 Yukon. It has a new exhaust system and new glass rubber all around. The owner used some kind of insulation in the doors and cab and it is very quiet with little wind noise.

The interior is almost as clean as the exterior with custom seats, headliner, and door pads. The column shift has been converted from standard to automatic with no indicators and loose linkage making it hard to get it in reverse. Glove box is wedged shut. I wrote down the style numbers but forgot and left them there.

I've been looking for an old truck for six months and the condition of this one is far and away the best I've seem.

While its a very nice truck, it lacks important features (for me) such as a/c, ps and pb. Any idea of what it would cost to have these things added?

Well... I still don't understand what appears to be a power booster behind the master cylinder is . You can easily add the P/S-P/B to these truck, of course the A/C is a little more costly. All depends on how much you will want to scrounge the salvage yards though.

Did you by any chance ask how much he would be willing to sell it outright? If so, would you be willing to pay that much? Sounds like a decent truck, take into consideration it is by nio means original, if that is what you were after. You could probably get some good road time in before needing to do too much work on it.

Uh-oh. Forgot the most important thing.

Don't know what his ebay reserve is but he offered it for $4,500 in person. Forgot to check out the brake booster as well.

Jenner, I can speak from experence, That truck is worth $4500.00. A good inside-outside paint job can run that much, with prep. The description sucks, my biggest complaint is people take photos in bad light, and then want to post too many of them.

We don't know what your abilities are, nor what kind of place you have to work in. I bought a 76 donor, sold body parts that I couldn't use, got all of my money back, and had ps, pdb, C6, 2spd wiper (now with delay) along with a few other parts left over for my truck. If you are willing to apply a lot of labor, creature comforts can be gotton without a lot of cash layout. With the 302 you can go as far as a 79 and may find one with AC.

I would make the sale conditional, the seller would have to paint the tailgate letters like they are supposed to be, even though it is a 67-72 series.

Thanks everyone. I pick up the truck today for considerably less than the original price. While it wasn't what I was looking for, it is certainly the best truck I've seen anywhere for the money. It will be the first Ford I've ever owned by the way.

John, how are the tailgate letters supposed to look?
