Concerns with wheel spacers

My son has a friend with a 2002 f350 4d, 4x4, lariat dually like mine except color, lift, tires, etc.

He has 6 inch lift, some 38" 12.50 PJ's, with 2 inch spacers in the rear. He parked his next to mine and made me think I had a match box.

Now his rear tires were extremely close for my liking and I was thinking that 3 inchers would be better.

What is big concern with having spacers? I've had one 4x4 place refuse to install them.

Where can I find these things and whats the best quality material etc?

I want to make some adjustments myself next year and want to start buying now.

Wheel spacers are not safe, some states it's illegal. Puts too much leverage, the right way to do it is to buy the right wheels w/ the correct backspacing for your application.
