Need some help starting problems

Hi

Truck ( 92 150 6 cylinder stick) would not start after stopping for gas,lights and radio would work.Like my name, idontknowjack but did remember something and that was to take a screw driver and place it across the ?? ( cylnoid ) or whatever and it started.Got it home yesterday and was shocked that it started this morning.Guess i just don't want to get stranded next time it wants to quit on me so if anyone can give me any ideas for me to check out i would appreciate it.Thanks.

It's called a Solenoid or Starter Relay !

From the battery positive post to the S terminal of the Solenoid
You can also use a piece of 10 gauge wire.

OK now i know what it's called and how else to start it,i will get a wire(wonder if a coat hanger is 10 gauge ) Now that i know that can you help me to find the problem of why it didn't start before it does it again?

Sounds like you may have a problem with your neutral safety switch. It will be on the clutch pedal arm area. The color wires should be the same as out on the starter relay where you are jumping it. You can jump across the switch and see if it will start with the key to see if the switch is bad. Make sure it's out of gear.

Yes it started that one time at the starter relay switch to get me home and now this morning started with just the key.That is where i am at.I am not experienced enough to go around doing anything at the clutch pedal arm but was hoping it was going to be simple.Thanks.
