should i use 2 pieces of MDF on the front part, for extra strength? and how big should the hole be for the subwoofer? im assuming its smaller than 12"...?

make those dimensions the interior and add 1 1/2 to each. just use reular old 3/4" MDF, no need to double up.
somewhere on the sub-woofer spec sheeet it should say waht the cut out diameter. if u ant find it i personally use a generic 11 1/2" and just trim if needed.
