Gang, could somebody tell me why there was a solid chrome guage panel and a white with silver stars guage panel on the 59 custom cabs? Also, this is a long shot, but does a gravel pan from a 59 fit a 1960? Finally, does anybody else have yellow #'s written fairly large on the front right(facing the truck from the front) piece of the radiator support? Thanks again, -4speed
If the yellow letters are in block form and 16138 in it, that's a replacement radiator support. Ford stenciled the part numbers in yellow in the 50's-60's on replacement sheetmetal. if it's something else, your guess is as good as mine.
I checked my parts books and the 59 and 60 front valances are different. The 59 is # B9C 8188-A and the 60 is C0TB 8188-A. As far as it actually fitting, maybe someone who done it can answer.
1959 & 60 custom cab instrument bezels were chrome plated (entire face of bezel), and then painted white over (except for the stars, the bead around each gauge, the bead around entire bezel, and the underside of the top portion). This was done by the factory.
Solid chrome bezels (no paint at all) were either stripped, or re-chromed by the owner / previous owner.
both gravel pans will actually "fit", but are completely different in appearance.
The '59 gravel pan top stays exposed, and has a series of louvers stamped along the top, and a spot to mount the parking light boxes.
The '60 gravel pan's top has an "un-finished" appearance which gets hidden behing the lower grille, and has holes cut out on each end for clearance with the back of the parking lights.
hopefully thats a little better than me describing it.
Barry, you have me a little woried since that sheet metal I'm buying also comes with the radiator support not sure of the year(lets hope they are the same).
Kenny, I thought the gravel pan was different, oh well mines in good shape. About the guage cluster, I saw your chrome one and got curious. Thanks again! -4speed
Thanks barry, once I pull the fenders and front clip, I might uncover some "hidden issues". Jeffro probably wrecked it at one point and I have yet to realize anything more than the scrap yards # on the support, ok I'm done now. -4speed
4speed,
I replaced my bezel with a re-chromed that I purchased from Johns F-Fun Hundreds (original was pitted a little bit). I planned to paint it when it arrived, but then thought that maybe the solid chrome might look cool. The more I look at it though, the more I think I like the original painted look better.
Ok, I was just looking around your gallery when the question struck me, it wasn't an attempt to point out the small details that aren't correct. Thanks again for all your help everybody, -4speed

Hehe, I didn't take it that way at all.
Actually, I was kind of hoping to hear your opinion without putting you on the spot. I'm leaning toward painting it. Too much chrome I think.
The chrome does look good, but it's not exactly stock Just stick the "coldspot" emblems on and leave the cluster alone, just tell people it was a dealer option. -4speed(seriously though, chrome look good)
The Coldspot emblems would be cool, but then I'd probably have to take it to the next level. Some large chrome fridge door latches, and maybe some door pockets (to hold my condiments).
It would cool if Kenny had a 57-60 Ford refridgerator truck (maybe an ice cream truck) and did those modifications to it. It would have great airconditioning! That would be a sweet truck.
Mr Speed. I think that number is from salvage yard, and is the number of truck or place in yard or such so they could keep track of it maybe in some books in office. Looks like newer paint stick like yards use. I used to go to a yard that put his name or letters on every part, so if it went bad, he could REALLY tell if it was his parts or not. Is this year stuff hard to find? I'm starting to look, and not much out there yet. I'm looking for F600 size metal. In fenders anyway, rest will work from any size truck.
