95 Explorer OBD version?

An owner of 95 Explorer EB after some >50mi driving, sudden stopping etc is getting Check Engine light. Truck runs great before and after, light is gone after more or less prolonged stop with engine off. So far don't pay attention but this CEL is pissing off.

Anybody can tell the version of OBD (whether still I or II already), or more specifically - is it using PWM protocol for data acquisition? Many thanks for help, sorry if it was already discussed - forum search wasn't succesful

Hate to contradict a Ford Dealer Service Advisor, but '95 is still OBD-1. OBD-2 didn't come in until the '96 model year. If you want, someone posted a link here to a file called "gtest.pdf" that contains almost everything you'd want to know about the EEC-IV diagnostic tests on a '95 Explorer. If you search for it you'll find it, just be sure to set the options so th search engine will search back to last summer.

Mrshorty is correct, you should have obdI/eeciv. Most likely you have both diag connectors. The (non-functional)obdii port is under the steering wheel and the (functional) eeciv hookup is in the engine compartment.

Many thanks for the info, guys. Looks I'm gonna have some fun with this incredible car. Which is however soooooo different from my previously driven - like Turbo Diesels JettaII and M Galant
Cheers

Open your hood and read the underhood label. look for a line that will read something like "This vehicle conforms to US EPA standards for OBD II". if it doesn't say obd II then it is obd 1
