high idle when brake on
when i put on my emergency brake and the temps are very cold my truck will come to a high idle after two minutes or so. the idle will go up to 1200 or so and will stay at that rpm until the brake is released or the brake pedal is touched. is this an option or normal on all strokers. i am familliar with the high idle of an ambulance and i am wondering if this is simular just without the digital ford redout box on the dash.

Yes, this is normal, no it has nothing to do with a aux. throttle control, like you can get. This is factory programming from ford and is standerd on all power strokes. You will only notice this feture when it's cold out, so if you live down south, don't be worried if your truck doesn't high idle after a few min. And yes it is very nice to have as a diesel won't make heat unless a load is applied. Sometimes if you start your truck and it's cold out you turn on the defrost (a\c) you will notice that it gets warmer faster, because it puts a small load on the engine and it has to give it a tad more fuel to run it.
