I have a opportunity to purchase a set of L&L headers for my 460, my question is, are the bolt pattern for the pre EFI heads the same as the EFI heads.
I have a 91 EFI swapped into my /80 F350 and I’m wondering if the headers will bolt up, the early port size was 1.50 X 2.10 for 460`s I’m not sure what the /91 port size is. I’m far too lazy to un-bolt the exhaust manifold to try to measure them.
If the bolt pattern is the same, and the port size is close, they should work.
Anyone out there know the port size/ bolt pattern for the /91 460`s??
Don't know the answer for sure, but just looked in my L&L catalog. The part # for 1988-97 F250/F350 with 460EFI is 79760F (will not fit straight axle.) Part # for 460EFI with Air Injection is 79760FO (will not fit straight axle.) Part # for 460EFI for straight axle is 49760G. Part # for 1980-87 F250/F350 460 is 79760A.
Hope this helps. L&L Products, Inc. can probably answer any other questions. I bought a used set that are now (after lots of cutting/welding crossmember, etc.) in my 1967 F100 with 460 and C6. They are a great product. The ones I got were a bit beat up, and I had to heat and hammer some, so I had them Jet Hot coated. Lots of money, but a really cool finish. They bolt on the heads great. I got some Jegs/Mr. Gasket header bolts that work out fine with less wrench clearance problems. If for any reason you do not buy the headers, please let me know. I am interested in an additional set for another application. Best of luck.
I know the factory Heads that were manufactured for the Carbureted 460's from 1988 thru 92 were marked with an E7 casting ID on the top of the right rear/left front exhaust port, and were open chamber heads.
the factory heads that were manufactured for the fuel injected 460's from 1993 thru 97 were marked with an F3 casting ID on the top of the right rear/left front exhaust port, and were closed chamber heads.
There was an exhaust port change in mid-1989 (month of May I believe) and again somewhere around 91-93. I own a mid-1989 460 EFI and the ports are rectangular and not much larger than a small-block Ch**
