I cannot and will not vote. as one vehicle is getting a slight drop for performance and slight looks, no more than a 3/5 drop, teh otehr will be gettting a MASSIVE lift i nthe future to accomodate 44s.
I didn't vote as it all depends on the vehicle. I would never raise a 2wd vehicle. I have had one lowered. However, I have also raised my current truck.
The only thing that matters is the person driving the vehicle, enjoys what he/she has.
Originally posted by chevey hater77 i was just wondering why some people like to lower their trucks i think this is stupid I would rather raise my truck what do you guys think hi or low.
This subject has been thrashed out pretty much before, but I will repeat my feelings again. A truck has only ONE person to satisfy - the guy/gal that owns it. If raising your truck pleases you, then do it. If lowering your truck pleases you (as mine does), then do it. No disrespect intended, but I think it is stupid to call other people stupid.
Dono
I would do a mild lift on a truck if I had money or the need to do so or just enough money to do it for fun....I voted for lift, but I understand lowering as long as its not slammed so much you can't drive without scrapping the tranny on the ground. I would lower a car for better handling and what not.
i voted for lifting. thats just cause i have a 4x4 that i want to lift and wouldnt look good lowered. i think 2wd should stay stock or maybe a little lowered and 4x4 should stay stock or lifted. lowered does look good tho if done right. i have a friend that just went from a gmc to a ford. good move too. he got a really good condition 78 2wd lowered just enough to make it look good. got a bored and camd 460 with a brrl avenger carb (i think). holy jesus is that think fast. he can white smoke the tires when hes already goin like 30 mph. the guy he bought it from did the right thinki think and spent the money on performance b4 he spent it on looks.
depends on if its a 4x4 or if its a 2 wheel drive . Whats the point of trying to raise a 2 wheel drive like mine, i would rather lower it. If i had a 4x4 though i would definately raise it. You dont see guys out there lowering 4 wheel drives, except for chevy owners who like to lower k5 blazers for some reason.

I happen to agree with you there, I use my truck mostly for hauling and traditional uses of a truck. Other people use their trucks for different things and have different opinions what a truck should be used for, I wouldn't put anyone down for that. Different strokes for different folks.
Then Im sure you two must love the el camino? Ha. If trucks werent meant to go fast, there never would have been a GMC Syclone or Typhoon. Thos vehicles, along with the lightning, created a generation of "truck racers". Id would much rather overhaul my 4.2L SCAB, than go with the "traditional" import scene that is so popular. I think you guy guys are both old school, where there was never a speed truck around. Unless you are fairly young, then I stand corrected. Mine has a 3/4 beltech drop, and it looks smooth. The wheel well is filled by stock tires. It looks like a sleeper. You have no idea how fun it is to have a GT mustang rev at you, and leave them wondering how they got beat by a truck with no V8 badges. At the same time though, trucks werent made to off-road, IMHO. Thats what Jeeps and older SUVs were for. My buddy has a 1970 (I think) Landrover. That thing is a mountain goat. It doesnt need a 6" lift, huge tires, or a 351 engine. In fact, I bet most people who do put on a 6" lift, 44's, rancho 5000 shocks, a winch, and custom exhaust that do NOT take it off-road are "stupid". The world around us is very materialistic, and looks are everything, whether or not anyone will admit to it.
Thanks for reading such a long post. Hope to get some positive criticizm.
I can't answer that either
My 66 was lowered in the read 2 inches to make it look better
But it wasn't a drop
And my GMC has a 3 inch body lift, with the torsion bars turned up 2 inches plus 33 inch tall tires
Just depends on the vehicle
I didn't vote here either

I have to agree with you very much there, which is one of my main beefs with ricers. A lot of talk and not much action (most of them that is). What I don't get about fast/show trucks, is why have a truck? No one's going to want to haul a load of firewood in their brand new Lightning, if they do, more power to them. I'd love to have a fast truck, but still it would have to be practical. I'd still want to use it as a truck and when you no longer use a truck for a truck, why not have a car when 2/3 of the space that you have is wasted? Like I said though, different strokes for different folks.
