Garrett, one problem, even thirty years ago there was still a truck racing scene. While I am not old enough to know, I do know people who where there. and where in it. There where it seems alot of hopped up mid 70s 2WD pickups that knew how to go FAST. If it has wheels someone will want to make it go fast. Plane and simple, it aint even have to have wheels

Acer, I do however know people with both lightnings and the SCharged Harley 150 that tow or haul all the time.
i could not vote either. I think that you should have added a stock option........I do have a raised bronco and love it. I have had them all lowered, but they most of the time pull them self out
Oh, all three have torsion bars on the tailgate - man that's kewl
Raising a 2WD truck is pointless. It still gets stuck just the same because their is not 4WD obviously. Also, you're just wasting gas and $$$ doing it to a 2WD when it's not really worth it. By lowering it, you are (IMO) increasing looks, stability, mileage, and overall drivability.
Also, it depends on where you live. If I lived in the snow or in the mountains, I definately would not drop my truck regardless of whether or not it's 2 or 4WD. But if I live in the city and never go off road (which I don't) then I would definately drop it. C'mon guys, that's common sense.
I voted lowered, but I could go either way depending on the circumstances.
I have a 2" Bodylift (why a Bodylift...? there is no suspension kit for my model available) 'cause I need the tire clearence for my 33 x 12,5 x 16,5 BF.
...and it looks much better.
Raised or lowered...hm....it depends on what do you use the truck for. If you use the truck only for show it look pretty cool when you drop the truck. A appropriate paint and exterieur is a must for it kind of truck....
If you want to use your truck off road or do you like huge tires...the only way is to lift the truck. In this case he should remain driveable.....
The reason for lowering a vehicle is to race it and the reason for raising a vehicle is for ground clearance off-road. If you do it for any other reason, you are wasting your money, but, it is YOUR money to enjoy and waste
There is a reason us 2WD owners raise our vehicles, Flooding. I live near and work in Houston and anytime they get rain you hear about the 'I-10 river' overflowing its banks. Also people who live in the desert raise there 2WD trucks so they get more travel, there is nothing like going flat-out in a desert wash and not even feeling it.
Originally posted by acerockola77 I have to agree with you very much there, which is one of my main beefs with ricers. A lot of talk and not much action (most of them that is). What I don't get about fast/show trucks, is why have a truck? No one's going to want to haul a load of firewood in their brand new Lightning, if they do, more power to them. I'd love to have a fast truck, but still it would have to be practical. I'd still want to use it as a truck and when you no longer use a truck for a truck, why not have a car when 2/3 of the space that you have is wasted? Like I said though, different strokes for different folks.
I completely agree with you there ace. I too have a big beef with ricers. I think there is a difference between a ricer and an import. Ricers, to me, are those damn 4-bangers with an intake and an exhaust tip that rev up their engines at you at a stop light. An import being the foreign car that someone has actually put time, effort, and money into. They dont have ludacris wings, or body kits either.
The reason I have a lowered truck, is because Im 6'2 240 pounds, and there is no way I could squeeze my way in and out of a mitsu 3Kgt VR4. Although the bhp of 320 is nice, the leg room isnt. I need a truck. Its either this, or the 300M I was about to buy. I know, own a lowered 4.2, but was so close to buying a 300M???? LoL.
So I dont know why I dont have a car, to be honest, other than the fact that none of them were practical for me. But a truck still does what I need it to do: Get me and 5 friends from point a to point b in a compfortable manner. Not too many vehicles can boast that. With that same note...why do so many people with trucks have tonneau's? Unless you get one thats easily removeable, the purpose of the truck is gone, aside from very small objects.
i hate when i see a lowered truck, mostly in the southern states like mexicans, but why you sure couldnt go mudding or anything, new would get stuck in 3 inches of snow and get hung up trying to drive in your slightly inclined driveway, i would rather have mine raised so i can actually do something with it.
that is quite possibly the most ignorant statement I have ever heard on here. What do do in the grand state of arizona with no mud or snow? Actually, I dont even want you to dignify my question with an answer.
I enjoy my truck being lifted. I don't have anybody asking me to push them, since I have a lift on mine. My husband and I also love the heighth, it's easier to work under it. And if the truck fell off the jacks, it wouldn't crush us. I can see my truck sticking up in a busy parking lot. I can see cars way ahead of me.
Cons- Cleaning my cab and hood. I have a ladder for the hood, and get into the bed to reach the cab. The top of my running lights is 7 feet. I need a ladder to take my air cleaner off, even though I'm 5'10. Loading and unloading heavy things from my bed. But, I learned how to undo my tailgate hinges.
It doesn't bother me either way. I LOVE my BABY! It's my truck, it's my personality. It's mine. mine. mine. And that's my story.
