Most usually do, but some might not. "aftermarket cheapy, etc".
With a factory radio, the lights usually have to be on for the radio light to come on. There is a "light" power lead. If it has one, but doesn't work, the bulb in the radio is out. It can be replaced. MK
Yes. And it might be soldered in . So you might need a soldering gun or iron, and rosin core solder. If it has one, I kind of doubt it has a bulb holder, although it's possible. If it's wired in, just clip the wires as close to the old bulb as you can, and wire in a new bulb with leads in it's place. If you solder, don't use acid core solder. You never want to use that for radio or other electrical stuff. MK
Thanks, I am assuming that I can remove the radio fairly easily from below the dash?
P.S. I really appreciate all the info and the help. I am getting a Factory Shop Manual on CD Rom but until then I am kind of stuck. I can usually figure things out but I have found that sometimes there are tricks that make these things easier or harder if you don't know them.
Truckboy,
I have the factory radio in my 72 and the light bulb just snapped in from the top. I just took my defroster hoses loose and worked my arm up in there and pulled it loose to change it. Thats easier than removing the whole thing. Also, my light stays on all the time, night or day as long as the radio is on.
Well I can see I am going to have to take a serious look under my dash to see what all I have in the way of bulbs. I didn't even know that I was supposed to have a ashtray light. Thanks.
