Well, I was in the middle of playing video games when the power went out. Well, that sucks! So I thought what do I do now? So, I got on my laptop and got out my phone cord and BAM! now I am surfing FTE in style with my 56K dial-up connection! Man is this slow or what?!??! I am gonna fall asleep right here at the keybogggggggggggggggggggggggggg................... .... Oh wuh? It's ok I'm awake now!

I can only surf FTE for 3 more hours before my battery goes dead. Hopefully hydro comes on soon or I may break 1000 posts today!
One year, we were out power for a few hours. And it was over 100 outside. So, the hubby brought in a battery, set it on the coffee table. He tooked up a dc powered fan to it, so we'd stay a little cool.
Power's back on. It came back on after being off for 3 1/2 hours last night. Gave me time to catch up on some sleep. Thank goodness for battery backup and dial-up so I could still surf FTE!
True story,
Power went out one night and the wife said "at least we can see from the light of the TV" Looking back, i wish i would have told her "well the remote don't work without the power and if she would get up to turn it on
During the snow storm of 2000 I used the lighted key pad of the hard wired phone to find munchies in fridge, this saved on using up batteries in flashlights, I have a very long cord.
At home in T-County I have several things the wife probably thinks we don't need.
Among them are three or four propane lanterns, two or three propane heaters, a fryer fired by a large propane bottle that a smoker can sit on top of if need be (turns it into an oven), and if it gets more basic than that a maul and wedges and some plain old fashioned wood saws.
She never really got along with my bicycles either...
There is also a "HAT" for the fry cooker that turns it into the most powerful space heater you can imagine. I heated a two story house in Norfolk Virginia with it two years ago when the heater gave up the ghost twice in the same january...

Our power went out a while ago too. My brother's friend was over, and his car got totalled in a wreck the other day so he has this rental toyata 4x4. So....we figured since he paid for the insurance we'd start boozing it up and take it for a spin out in the field and the woods.
Wow that was fun. We climbed a 15 foot sawdust pile, ran over a 6 inch wide sapling, bottomed it out more than a few times, Tried doing some jumping with minimal success. I was surprised we never got stuck.
This thing is majorly screwed up now though. Theres weeds and mud and burrs caked all over the exterior...i dont even want to know how many scratches it has. It seems to be leaking oil from the transfer case too. I wish it was daylight so i could take a picture of it.
I wonder if they're going to make him pay for all this? he got insurance and all....oh well it was fun for me!
