Did I ever tell you my first truck was a mean '77 short bed Chevy. It was really an awesome truck. Had to sell it because I got PG at 17 and couldn't afford it. It was red-orange and would haul some butt. Also had a different chevy about a year after that. I also had a chevy Barretta. Pretty fast when I needed it to be. Caught up to a sem doing 100 after it lost a tie down and hit the trunk of my car. Have you ever owned a chevy, fordfaggiole?
Keep in mind the stick bow guys are the die-hard traditional archers. Rifle hunters shouldn't take it personal - those guys don't even like the compound/crossbow users. They sorta put up with recurve bowhunters. Sad truth is we all better "stick" together (hunters period) or we'll all lose. The opposition loves the divide-and-conquer strategy.
I currently hunt with a bare bow recurve AND a compound with sights, etc. I can appreciate the challenges and fascination of all forms. I'd like to have a custom stick bow, but seem to always find ways to spend the $800 it would cost on one of my trucks.
yea their definately a close knit group. i proably should have checked out some other posts but the forum i was on was realy bashing the rifle hunters i thought a little more than normal.instead of discussing things revelant to their weapon of choice they were all discusing how rifle hunters were infringing on their game and their season. i would compare it to one of us rifle hunters complaining about bow hunters getting the jump on us.we definately got to stick together, i just dont understand why they were so negative.bow hunting is just catching on up here in northen maine so dont get much of a selection or available parts for a good bow so i'm just starting out with a plain jane compound bow.I'd need a lot of tech support for a real good bow, maybe next year
fordfaggiole, learn on the plain model - you'll become a better archer and hunter. All those added gizmos are cool, but they don't make you more accurate.
All those add-on accessories have pretty much have the same value as all those chrome thingies on those ricers we love to slam.
When it comes to learning basic archery, simple is better. That advice comes from an old fart who has been bowhunting for 34 years, has been privileged to teach 4H beginning archery and currently instructs Bowhunter Education for the state of Montana (IBEF level)
