Unhappy Interminent Door Ajar light

99 F250 91K miles with an intermitent door adjar light, of course when you slow down below 10 MPH the dome light comes on and goes off after you speed up. I've checked and rechecked all the doors. Switches appear to be functioning properly. Happens for a trip of multiple stops then goes away for a few days. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm having the same problem with my 02 F250 and other odd things with the auto door locks. Lock it with the remote switch and it unlocks a second after. Takes a couple of attempts before it stays locked. Door ajar light won't go out, dings at me and the auto lock dosen't function when you go over 10 MPH. All intermittently. Right now it is working just fine. Not sure where to start looking?????

I replace LOTS of the door switches on these trucks for just these same concerns. The door ajar switch is located on the bottom of the latch inside the door, They're fairly cheap but a pain to get to to replace. Try squirting a good dose of WD-40 into the bottom of all the latches and see if that helps. Dirt and dust will build up and make the switches stick, the WD-40 cleans them out and lubes them. This will take care of it most of the time.

That is funny you posted this, meaning I had this same problem. I would take JMortons advice cause it works! about a year ago my door ajar light kept coming on and same with my dome light until I applied my brake at about 10 mph's, so I took out the dome light fuse because it became annoying! Anyway, I took my truck to the dealer for some advice and he knew exactly what the problem was. He sprayed WD-40 into all the latches and exercised them by open and closing the doors about a 1/2 a dozen times and I have'nt had this problem again! I am sure it will work for you to! Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the insight, lubed them last night after my wife noticed the truck was sitting in the driveway with the dome light on. I was really upset until I went back in thinking the lube job didn't work. After I got the flashlight to remove the fuse, I notice the light was out. Dummy me, you have to wait until the timer goes off to turn thelight out.
Thanks
Again.

100,000 miles on my 2000 ford excursion. had problems with the door lock actuators, they wouldn't lock or unlock. intermittent at first then got worse and spread to other doors. Also door ajar light and dome (as well as running board lights) would also intermittently stay on. never did figure which door sensor it was (they are hidden well). finally took it to the dealer and they replaced all door lock actutaors and the problem seemed resolved. that was 1 month ago, today they door ajar light and the other lights would not go out for several hours.. is the ajar sensor part of the actuator? anybody else have a difinative answer? it's frustarating as hell.
