Not a problem at all. I did that last year on my '83 F100... best option I ever added. You need to find an intermittent switch unit from a junk yard or where I got mine... eBay. I think they are all the same from '80 thru '86. Make sure you get the switch and "black box" attached with the wiring harness. Then just remove the old one and the new one just plugs into the same harness... no need to change the motor. Remember to attach the green ground wire to a good under dash ground.
Ditto - The hardest part is getting the **** off the wiper control shaft.
You need a hook arrangement to depress the metal keeper up into the **** to pull it off the shaft.
Don't think you can just pull it off - It's like a chinese finger trap - the harder you pull the tighter it gets.
Chiltens manual has instructions on **** removal. BigRed is right any 80-86 control will just plug in and it works great - a huge difference over the old two-speed control.
Yes the **** would be an issue... my old one was broken and would fall off by itself. The one I installed had a **** with it so it just snapped in place when the new unit was installed.
Well damn...I can't get my ebay account to come up for nothing. I hadn't used it forever, and tried to fire it up the other day, but it won't let me in :-( LOL so ebay is out of my reach atm (and that's prolly a good thing...........)
