I am thinking of putting a flatbed on my 1976 f250 highboy. I was wondering if anyone has done it to theirs and if they can give me some tips and advice on it. If they have a pic of theres that would be great. What is the height of the flatbed from the ground? Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks for the input.
We put one on my buddies 75.... it sits right up there, as it had to clear 35" tires and sit on top of the humped frame. We just made spacers out of square tube steel and other stuff laying around his granddad's farm shop to make it sit level..... don't know what else you need to know. Here are two pics:

There's a 73 that I see every time I drive to work. It's set up super nice. I think the flat bed is not only a great look but is also very useful, if you have the need for one. My wife and I are looking to buy one of those digital cameras (yes I am slow in joining the new century). I'll make it a point to shoot my first test shot of that 73 and try to figure out how to post a reply to this thread for ya. It might help give you some ideas on what you want for "the look"
thats really cool my bed is in fair shape i just always wanted a flatbed.good job on the paint mine needs that .good job all around thanks for sharing the truck.
I have a Flat bed on my 1975 F-150 check it out. Its bolted down with u shaped bolts around the frame so it will be easy to remove if i wish in the future. Just make sure you put something in front of the rear tires to stop rocks from beating up the back of the cab.
Did you ever get your flat bed installed? I finally bought that camera I told you about but everything around here is buried in snow. If you are still in the planning stages, I'll dig and get that photo of the truck I drool over for ya. It's a nice looking flat bed.
Tim
No Tim, I haven't put a flatbed on it yet I am still searching it out first. When you get a chance you can try out that new camera but don't worry about digging it out to get the pic!! I bet it is sweet though.
Thanks for the help!!
Justin
76,
I LOVED that bed. Did you buil or buy it. That would look great on my project, 72 F200 "fake heavy hauler". I have another truck, 71, that has a good solid bed but I really like that massive look. I will say that since Ilost my garage (Hurricane Isabel), I'm glad I don't live any farther north than Southern Virginia. Hopefully I can get it done before someone buys them, or I get transferred.
Let me know about the bed.
Thanks,
Jeff
Hey Rough Diamond what are you doing with the bed you had on there? Just asking because I have a flatbed that I would like to ditch and get a real bed.
