After 18 years on my '84 E350 6.9 Van I decided to go for it and got a 2003 SD PS (7.3) Lariat Crew Cab 4x4. I figured they have the bugs worked out of this engine by now and didn't want to wait a couple of months for the new 6.0 and the possible 1st year blues. On the eighth day with my new toy I was presented with the first dent in the passenger door - a 2" by 4" nice smooth dent with no paint chip along and under the "chrome strip". Thanks to some earlier postings I was able to remove the door panel and pop out the dent myself. Those earlier posting were extremely helpful and I figured I owed it to the forum to post my experience on the 2003 model.
Here is the procedure I used to remove the panel on the front door on the passenger side. The plastic cover going up the door at the top front of the panel (about nine inches tall) pops straight out away from the door ( use your fingers) - no screws under here but it has to come off. The courtesy light cover (near bottom right) pops off with a small screwdriver. Under this cover is a 5/16" hex screw that you need to remove. The small panel on the front of the arm rest that contains the window controls pops up but you need to pry the FRONT end up first (gentle screwdriver and mostly fingers). Under this panel is hex screw #2. Remove screw and lift door panel STRAIGHT UP and there you have it. Twist and remove courtesy light unit, feed window control unit down thru the hole it covers and you can set the entire panel aside. When installing just reverse the process.
