hey guys again another question not really involving bodywork but because u guys r so helpfull i just figured k ..and exahast system dont have a hole lotta money for one but i want one that will give the truck a nice throughty sound and wut im wonderin is what will make a 300 straight six sounds deep and kinda loud can u help me ? thanx
Run a straight header, probably nice and loud and attract the attention of many cops. lol. I can't help you much on that one, be better for another area of the forums. I do know that a company called clifford performance used to specialize in 6 cyl engines. Might check with them see if they do anything with the ford 300. A lot of company's make performance exhaust. Should check with other 300 six owners. If you find the right exhaust it will give you a little extra horsepower and torque and can change the rpm at which the engine produces its power.
k hahaha wow im full of questions k in off to the store tomorw to buy all the goods! now my question is .... i have an 81 ford pickup single cab shortbox and i was wonderin if u might have any ideas on.. how much stuff ill need as in bondo, primer, sandpaper ? if u can help that would be great thanx again

That's like asking, how many bullets do I take when I go deer hunting? Of course the answer is, only one if you're a great shot.
To get started:
1 gallon of filler with hardener
1 quart of polyester filler
1 spreader (for the filler)
1 palette board (for the filler)
1 sanding block
1 long board, if you want a nice wave-free job
1 gallon of lacquer thinner (for cleaning the palette board)
1 gallon of wax/grease remover
A couple squirts of dishwashing soap
Several rolls of paper towels
2 quarts of epoxy primer
1 gallon of 2K primer
Enough 32, 80, 180, & 400 grit sandpaper to do the job
Set aside a few bucks for assorted items I've forgotten.
I would pick up a little fiberglass filler or all metal and use that first to fill the patched areas. Put the fiberglass filler down first, grind straight and finish the repair with plastic filler and blocking. Bondo soaks up water if you had any little spot in the repair that would allow it to get behind the filler.
oh wait i have another question hahah k the bumpers and the side merriors ....the bumper has little rust spots but it looks lie theyll just wipe off but the side meroros how do i get them back to lookin nice and shiny wihtout gettin them re cromed?
Steel wool will shine them up. Only problem is the rust will come back fairly quickly. =(
There is a Chrome Paint out there that you might wanna consider using on the mirrors. It isnt cheap thou. But if its done right it looks like mirror polished chrome. I use it on my R/C bodies to simulate anything from Metal to Chrome to Aluminum.
I'll give ya the details if you'd like.
