That's funn this post just came up This morning I had a hard time starting my truck... I put the key in and let the Plugs warm up. then cranked it over 2X and no start. I turned it off and back on again and didn't even wait for the Glow plugs to finnish cycling and it fired up in an instant. Could this be a battery problem as well? I have 44k on my truck and it was only about 42 Degres out when I started it up this morning. Any insight would be great.
Re: 2001 PS starting problems (Clicking Relay or Something).....

when it wont start, you can hear a relay or something under the dash making a clicking noise while cranking...
when its making the clicking noise, it wont start,
If you crank it a few times, after about 3 or 4 crankins, the clicking nosie will stop and it starts..
But as long as the clicking sound is happening it wont start..
but if you crank it over and dont hear the sound, it starts fine...
Help I'm having this same problem, and have heard the sound in the past. Seams to be intermitant though. I'm late for work, in the mean time I'll put a charger on my batteries.
Got it started, it was the batteries. Only thing I can think is low voltage/amperage it has been pretty cold here the last couple weeks and the batteries apear to be stock. I hooked up the tractor to the pasenger side battery and let it charge for awhile then no clicking and the truck cranked right up.
