had problems with my expedition last weekend shut down on while going down the highway. went and and tried to restart it but would not the theft light came on . took it to the dealer went and replaced the tranciever on the pats system. after that it was blowing fuses they found the wiring harness in the engine compartment had rubbed against the engine and shorted out a a few wires. now i have a 1500 dollar repair bill
Someone the other day on here found some wires that had got up against the exhaust on his vehicle. I think it was an expedition too, and it was in the engine compartment.
I will relate another interesting story on these same lines. A guy I work with has an expedition, and he never checked the oil very often. Somehow along the way it started using oil(5.4 liter, and the bottom of the truck was not oily). He was running down the interstate when the engine locked up. Anyway, he started looking for a replacement engine, and we started looking around at the local junkyards (www.car-part.com). What was interesting to note is the number of engines that were in a fire. A mechanic I know asked around a little, and apparently they do have wiring harness problems, which burn up the top of the engine sometimes.
