Shaved driprail

The driprail on my 69 is pretty banged up and I'm toying with the idea of shaving it off. I know that once it's gone, it's gone, so I'm looking for some pictures of a truck that's had this done to it. Can anyone help me out? Also, if anyone has done this, what kind of problems have been encountered? Does the water draining off the top of the cab make this an unrealistic thing to do? Any thoughts, pictures or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.

drip rail shave

I've started shaving my 68 rails last week. I started on the passenger side where it ends. I currently have no pics, but I could you send you some. I have found that the portion near the bed side is a spot welded rail. At some point the rail becomes part of the cab section where welding needs to occur. I'm about 15% into so I can't give you the whole scoop. Cacby has done it on his. He could have some input. I can start sending some pics next week.

Thanks naggy! Any pics are welcome - I'm not quite at the actual shaving part yet, but I wanted to get some info before I started. Keep us posted!
