Ok, Got a question. What exactly does plugging truck in do? I mean it's a block heater right? Whats the pros to doing so, plus, what temp should it be pluggen in at, ie when it's below freezing or what. Thanks
"Block Heater" is a misnomer. It actually heats your coolant. The recommendation is to plug the truck in when ambient temps drop below 20F. Many people have theirs set on a timer, which will turn it on 2-3 hours before they're going to leave for the day, and the report quicker warm up and better heater operation once started.

Im sure all powerstrokes have a block heater. Look behind the front bumper, thats where i finially found the plug in. They can be a booger to find if no one has used them before. I finially had to trace the wires
up fron near the oil filter, thats where my block heater is.
My block heater cord is hanging down from behind the front bumper, on the driver's side. It's very near the place where the frame support for the front bumper is.
Does plugging them in make them last longer from not starting them as cold?
Anything that makes the truck start easier, and warm up faster has got to increase longevity, since cold starts are the hardest single thing we ask our trucks to do.
I'm sure you could, though the maximum benefit of plugging it in is acheived in about 3 hours. Consider also that it consumes about 1500 watts, so the power consumption might be something you'd want to think about.
