I want to put component speakers in my 2001 F150 Supercab.
I'm thinking of mounting the tweeters high on the doors on that triangular section inside the side mirrors. That would keep them closer to the mids, and more in phase.
I have also seen these mounted on the windshield side of the "A" pillars, bouncing the sound off the glass. That might fill the center better and be easier on the speakers since they wouldn't be subject to the door slamming, and also less likely to get wet.
i posted my tweeters at the top of the a pillar and it sounds really good. you just have to reduce the volume going to the tweeters or else it overpowers everything else.
Use double sided tape and try different locations. Every tweeter responds different with regards to off axis placement. When you find that "optimal" sound, go with it. 18" from the mid is usually considered the farthest one should go...and if you mount them high, don't aim that at the windshield. All kinds of sound quality anamolies will ensue
Yes. Please try the double sided tape. Point them toward the glass so you can experience the immense harshness. :-) After that, point them where your ears tell you they sound best to YOU.
