valve train tapping again

I run the Harland Sharps, basically the same set up, and was running into the same problem with 1/2 turn of preload. I ended up going with 3/4 turn and no more problems since. I also had to torque the hell out of adjuster nuts has they always wanted to loosen up.

Thanks Pro,

I've been leaning that way myself. It's good to know others have done the same. I'll probably tighten them down just a bit more.

I ordered some of those fabricated Aluminum valve covers I see on Ebay. I hope to get those Friday, then I'll go back in and make some more adjustments.

If I go too tight (too much preload), what are the symptoms? bent rods, busted shafts/rockers, more noise, piston damage?

Those valve covers are going to make your engine look VERY cool. Like I said before, they kinda give it a Pro Stock look.

I've seen those covers on Ebay too. NICE. A bit pricey for my tastes at the moment. I missed one pair the other week for $200. Now they are "buy it now" for $275. Oh well.
