I just boght a 68 F-100 it has a 390 and auto trans. and the speedo cable is on the pasger side. What kind of trans. is it? The cab is crunched where the gas cap goes, it is pushed in about 4-6 inches. I was wanting to know if the frame has #'s on it just like the door? It also has ps,pb,air, and all except the motor is ariginal, it was a 352. I almost forgot the good part I got it for 100.00, and the tag is still up ot date. Thanx
Yes, the frame does have the VIN stamped on it. Front passenger side frame right beside where you're headers/manifold mount to block. Should be right there on the frame. I had to spray mine with some gunk and rub the grime and grit off, but it's there.
Congratulations on the purchase, good price too. Good to hear there are still deals to be had out there. I got my 69 F100 4x4 for $500.00. No tags though. Hasn't been registered since 2000.
Have you already decoded the VIN, or is that why you're looking for it?
No I have not yet all that informtion was gave to me by the origal owner. The a/c box is in so-so shap and the fan doesn,t blow but I getting rid of it it still has the cust-o-matic tag on it. What is it worth and who wants it?

Not if it is a 68. Ford stopped putting 352's in the trucks in 67. In 68 they starting using the 360/390. Only way to tell the difference between 360 and 390 is a stroke check.
