Unhappy Fuel Gauge

Okay guys,
Now that I have started posting to this site I have another question. When I fill my Fuel tanks, and switch between either one, my fuel gauge only registers at 3/4 of a tank max. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks.

Mine did that too. Sounds like a common problem. I took the sending unit apart and made some adjustments on the rheostat inside. Worked fine for a while, registered full again the way it should. Then it quit all together. Float sank. Perhaps a new float would have fixed it but I just replaced the whole thing. Nice to have a dependable gauge again.

I suppose it is possible that both your float units have the same problem, and this is why your gauge will read the same on both tanks. My experience tells me the gauge is probably OK, but that the sending units develop problems.

I kind of thought that maybe the sending units were bad but since it was pretty much reading the same for both tanks I wasn't sure if it was the gauge. Now that I look closer it appears that the tanks don't read exactly the same. Pretty close, but not the same so I will take a look at the sending units. Thanks everyone.
