You know, that just may be a good idea. I will have to ask my dealer about that. My wife would be driving it the most. She thinks an Excursion is too big, that she and the five could get along with an Expedition. I can't reason with her. Up until two years ago, she had a 97 Suburban. That was her favorite vehicle. I can't make her understand that the Excursion is roughly the same size. Lest my point be lost in this rambling diatribe. If I can convince her that an X is the same size as her 'favorite' vehicle, maybe I could sneak a few more seats in on her and use the wide open spaces theory. Thanks for the idea.

My wife is 5' 1" and 108 pounds dripping wet. Her previous cars were a Ford Contour, and a 4WD Ranger pick-up, so she was used to smaller vehicles. The van has a high seating position and a very short hood, so it's very easy for her to drive and see out of. The Super Duty van is hard for her to get in, but she's short. Once she crawls in though she had and has no problems at all driving it. It is a long vehicle though, especially the ext length models with 12 & 15 passenger seats. I removed the second row seat, for ease in moving around, and a place for soccer bags when we do haul the team somewhere. With the V-10 it's a kick to drive, great power, pretty good mileage and I can really surprise people out of the stoplights. I just wish Ford would follow suit with GM and offer an AWD. I don't need really a transfer case type, full blown 4WD, although the lower gearing would be nice for positioning the camping trailer, or backing up steep hills with the RV. But other than that I would never use low range, not in a van. So AWD would be fine for me.
