Hi guys, I am swapping the stock intake and 2 bbl carb to a Weiand stealth intake and Holley 4160 carb. What should I look out for? Does the Distributer have to come off?
Also has anyone used a Holley carb on their Ford? I can't seem to figure out the instructions for hooking up the A/T kickdown and throttle cable.
Are you keeping all your emissions? You can remove and install the intake and carb and leave the distributor where its at. Put some rags or something in all the ports and passages when you take the intake off, so gasket material doesn't fall in there when you remove the old gasket. Good luck
Well it is easier but not required, I left the distributor in the first time I changed intakes. After that I felt comfortable enough to go ahead and pull the distributor. Its up to you. Let me/us know how your intake installation goes. I would try and tell you how to install the adapter for the tranny and throttle but I would end up confusing you and myself. Just keep looking at the picture and reading the instructions, it'll come to ya. Later and good luck once again
I put a holley 1850 carb on my 302 in June, everything lined up fine with the old linkage but I had to adjust the threaded rod a little. the only problem I had was finding a new ball stud that the linkage snaps onto, found it at jegs, had to buy the hole set for one piece ($9.99)
I'll look to see if I have any pics of the installation.
if it was a chevy and you wanted to change the intake you would have to take out the distributor. aint it great that you don' don't have to worry about it.
