Anyone ever heard of mFire? I just looked through a list of providers in my area. All of the providers had a rating of one star through 5 stars. mFire had 5 full stars while all of the rest had less than that. AOL only had like 2 stars. I think I may try that one and see how I like it. I don't know yet.
Can't get cable or DSL here yet.
We use ATT Worldnet, I think they still do telephone billing. I'm pretty happy with them.
If you have a bank account, most banks now have those Check/Credit cards that you can use just like a credit card, up to whatever's in your account. Get one of those and you could go with any ISP you wanted. (Both of ours were free and replaced our ATM cards.)
With EarthLink you don't need any funny overlay programs that control your computer. All you need is a web browser of which there are several, IE of course but it is far better to use Mozilla or Opera.
If you use a broadband connection such as cable make sure you get a router and install it between your computer and modem.

I would think it would be possible. I wondered about that a while back when I needed to sent a document to my work. I gave up and attached it to an email and sent it to the guy at work. I know there are services such as efax, that allow you to recieve faxes in email format, but I don't know if you can send them. I should look into it a little more because I don't have a home phone. My girlfriend and I both have a cell phone and together, it is cheaper than one land line.
comcast cable. $40 a month, has only gone down 2 or 3 times and only late at night for an hour or so. but finances are getting tight so we're switching to netzero.

Mil1ion,
Yes it is possible.
I have a cable modem and a dialup modem.
You can send fax's and such with the dialup modem, and still use your cable internet
You can even do it at the same time (Be online and send a fax)
I've done it a few times.
Hope this helps you out.
If you need a credit card, open an account with a big national bank (Bank Of America in your area) that gives you a debit card that doubles as a VISA. With a deposit, most card issuers such as Capital One will be happy to send you a credit card.
