I've heard very little problems with the 4R100's when they are coupled to the V-10's and "non" modified PSD's. Most of the problems I have heard stem from Modified PSD's running extreme horsepower chips, propane, and modified turbos. I think this is a good transmission, mine has 73,000 miles with "zero" problems. The key to extended life with this transmission is a quality fluid, and keeping it cool. I use the Mobil 1 synthetic fluid, and change it every 25,000 miles no matter what. I also have a Hayden 679 Aux. cooler with a Imperial electric fan. Last year in the heat of summer ( 92 degrees ) I towed my 26 ft Sunnybrook TT down the interstate at 65 mph with no problems at all. Even in stop and go traffic, or pulling hills, my trans temp has never gone above 185 degrees.
It is one member on this board who is really good with transmissions, Mark Kovalsky. He has a really good flush/fluid change procedure posted under technical articles.
