This is on the 1989 E250 Club Wagon we bought last year. I have never before seen such an apparatus. Has anyone here ever seen such a thing?
Where is the oil going back into the motor?
I think it is an oil heater
Right, I've never seen one quite like that
That oil feed hole in the block, for the sender where they have the pickup for the filter? is only a 1/4" pipe thread port
Can't imagine them using that source for a additional filter when there are remote filter adapters and such for your block
Noticed yours does not have the oil cooler
Show us a picture of the outlet of the canister and where it goes back into the engine

Per the pics, the flow takes out from the gauge tap in the block, in front of the oil filter, flows to the add-on filter on the left frame rail, then back to the upper section of the oil fill tube. There is no heater apparatus. Perhaps I should have used the past tense since I removed it all yesterday.
