I want to put new tires on my F250 V10 Crew Cab 4X4. I do a lot of towing, pretty much every weekend with the boys racing snocross and motocross. I put on a brand new pair of Coopers last year, put 29,000 miles on them and they are about 75% worn. Last time for me with Coopers. I have the 265/75 /6 load range E. Any help would be appreciated.
this issue has been covered many times on this board. If you do a search you will get at least a dozen hits for threads discussing this same topic. I personally run the Nitto Terra Grapplers and love them...
In 15 years between my dad and I, I've never seen a set last less then 60k miles. Those are city, hoghway, towing, etc miles. Not a huge amount of off roading but some. I work with a guy who paid something like $650 for Nitto's. I paid $600 for BFG's for my truck.
I bought my SD with BFG ATs already on it but I didn't like them mainly because they were too small, 245/75R16s. I don't know why someone would put smaller tires on but because they had plenty of tread left on them, I left them on.
Since then I put on some oversized Nitto Terra Grapplers 305/70R16. I really love these tires. They ride very good, no noise and dig very good in the mud and snow. Because they are fairly wide, I thought the truck would be a little squirrelly in the snow and ice but the truck handles it all and keeps going straight.
I am very impressed with the Nittos!! I paid $650 for the 4 tires and will get another set when the time comes.
We've always had good luck with Toyo tires. Have a set on a Chevy that has at least 20,000 miles on them and can't tell they're hardly wore. We travel mostly gravel roads so they're holding up very well, much better than the Generals on my F-250 with only 14,000 miles. Also, has anybody ever ran Kuhmo tires? Dad just got a set put on his '90 F-250 today. We've never ran them but a local guy just started up selling tires so we're helping him out. His supplier said if we ever had trouble he'd replace free of charge. Another tire I've been impressed with are Goodyear Wranglers, the one's I've seen wear pretty good. Good luck.
