just my thoughts, but if you were to take the trigger wire for the alternator and put a relay on it fed by the glow plug controller the alternator would put out zero amps while the glow plugs are on and as soon as they shut off via the PCM the alternator would start producing. no worries about the GP's or forgetting a switch or any fancy timers.
just my thoughts. i have the california emissions version with the weird shunt on the GPR so if i shut the glow plugs off it sets an emissions code hence my going with shutting off the alternator instead.
I have the California GPCM, not a relay,
so therefore, I do NOT want to puncture any wires to get that signal.
I will stick with my keyswitch ON signal to the programmable relay, set to 2:15 minutes
