Manual door lock problem

I have a 99 F-150XL with manual door locks. The problem I have is since the weather has turned cold my keys don't want to open the doors. I was told these keys have some kind of anti-theft chip in them? Just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem and any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks for any help, Polski.

Hi and welcome to FTE
I would try spraying some WD-40 into the key cylinder and door latch and see it this helps.

Actually; WD40 isn't the best thing for locks. It can collect dirt and gum things up.

They sell little spray tubes of graphite powder to spray into locks. This powder is specially made for locks, and won't gum them up.

I like using WD40 in locks because it also cleans them out. It doesnt gum them up like spray grease can.
