Camshafts

Im currently rebuilding the 5.4 3v doing preventive maintenance on it, full timing kit, meiling 360h oil pump, water pump, pulleys, tensioner etc.

Noticed some grooving on the stock camshafts, .

Does anyone know anything about how much or too much groove is or isn't ok on a camshaft??

Wish I had the money to order Cams Xtreme Energy XE256H

IMHO, I would avoid Comp Cams like the plague for a variety of QA issues they have had for decades..................

Isky, Howard, Crower, Crane... IMHO

I don't see any big issue but a little light polishing wouldn't hurt.

Thank you for the reply. My friend and I are going to reuse these cams and install new lashes and followers.

Im no mechanic, but he is.
my truck came with a rarity, the 5.4 3v from a raptor. So it has the raptor cam in it.

That’s a run of the mill 3V 5.4.

No such thing as a “Raptor cam”. Or all 5.4s that year had it. Slice it however you desire.

Yeah my friend had said something, found out the raptor 5.4 3v has the same camshaft as the standard f150. I think he was talking about the hot cam from. Ford racing and I misunderstood him.
