there is one bad on (one isnt bad) but theres quite a few smaller ones (dropped them in the parking lot)- yeah i know, i know, i just really dont want to have to dump 90 into new lenses(money I would like to spend on my bronco) and i have a tendancy to drive off the road without them, so i think that I should keep them

Are they glass or plastic lenses? On glass, you might first toothpaste, then jewlers rouge. If plastic, try some McGuires plastic cleaner followed by their polish.

Toothpaste works on cds so it might work on plastic lenses.

How about some car wax? That ought to fill in the scratches, and leave a nice shine.

My glasses are all scratched up. Theyve been kicked around on the basketball court, dropped in everything possible (except for the toilet). Im suprised i can see out of them with all of the scratches. But ive gotta wait till after the year before i can get me a new pair. These are 3 yrs old so i gotta have my eyes rechecked again as well, which sucks. As far as getting rid of the scratches, i have no clue. If u put toothpaste on them, then buff it out, it would seem like u would still be able to see the paste or the scratches. If u find something that takes them out, let me know so i can do it as well.

A small 'fluffy' polishing wheel in a handy grinder with a polishing compound designed for plastic. You have to take your time, keep it moving and use very, very light pressure. Too much polishing will change the strength of the lense.

I don't know how I have done it, but I have kept my current pair of glasses fairly scratch free. These have been the most durable pair that I have ever had. Several times lately they have been knocked off of my face and landed on the floor. The other day, they were knocked off and fell about 10 feet down onto a cement floor and landed right on the lenses and they are not scratched or anything. I am surprised that the frames didn't break or anything. For a second when it happened, I wish they would have, so I could have went home because I can't work without them as I am nearly blind. But I would have had to have someone come and pick me up because I surely couldn't drive without them.

As for getting the scratches out, I really don't know. I would try some of the other suggestions that were given here. Maybe try them out on an old pair of glasses to see what happens before trying it on yours. That way you don't mess yours up even more and then have to go get new ones.

You might want to check where you purchased your glasses. Some places can repair scratches. My daughter, who is now 9, has been wearing glasses for two years. The glasses get mangled. The last couple of times I bought her a new pair, I got them at Lenscafters. They were very helpful, and always repaired whatever was the problem.
There is also some stuff out there that you can use to get small scratches off of PDA and cellphone screens. I wonder if this would work on glasses.
Good luck.

I agree with Hottie, try taking them to the place you bought them and ask if they can polish the scratches out. If you polish them to agressively you might take off the UV protection or even make them worse. They might charge a small fee, but it's probably worth it if it saves you from buying new lenses.

I was going to say ask CT Fuzzy what he does for his glasses. I guess when one side gets scratched he just switches to looking through the other lense!
