this is to eveyone- ok the key to makeing a engine run is to let it breathe not to add high compression pistions and stroke it and bore it, yes that stuff helps but the key is to make it breathe. my old man has a 65 fastback mustang that runs 13 second quarters with a 2 bbl on it it just has hooker comp headers and 351w heads. and thats it other then that it is stock.
I have a bassani system on my 5.0 truck,
(headers/Y-pipe/catback) and it makes beautiful sound, smooth deep tone, made from stainless mandrel bent pipe. A real work of art. It also cost a thousand %$#@*&^ bucks! I think it will be the only thing left when the rest of the truck rusts away!
I hear that them 5 inch tail pipes add 5 hp per tip!!!
and the buzzing sound is sure to get anyone's attention!!
Sorry....heheh was too tempting....
3. Freeing up the exhaust is the way too let that healthy V8 sound...
Mustangs enjoy breathing via an H pipe and true dual exhaust while our trucks are choked down by a y pipe and a single exhaust...
Best thing to do is to go with a good set of headers, Bassani Y pipe with cats.....a single 3" flowmaster 40 series, dual 2.5"ers will bog the truck down off idle a bit...but works great for mileage on the freeway.(i went with dual 2.5's off the 40 series dual out flowmaster)
I also went with coated JBA headers.
a combo of 4 and 5:
Roller cam design allowed ford engineers to increase the cam profile without compromising emissions, drivability and performance....Roller cams have a tendency to run smoother than flat tappet cams at higher profiles.
Mustang cams are quite different from that of truck cams....with that said, it is probably a good idea to go with a custom grind for your application....
this is to everyone into them damn rice burners. those damn tips are gay as hell. if they belonged on anything it would be on weedeaters, all they do is make any motor sound like junk. besides that it is the 11 comandment states that all v8's are to be low and mellow not lound and splattery. i think he would have beter luck running the exaust into ur head to give you a fresh thatught
