Got 422,000 miles on my truck. And I have serviced the transmission on a regular basis. In November, I had the transmission serviced, and the front and rear differential fluid changed and the transfer case. I have been noticing a few drops on the carport and was worried if it was the rear main seal. Well, I was in the hospital for a few days and the truck sat from Wednesday evening and Saturday, there was a puddle under the truck. Red fluid. It has happened before and that's why I had the transmission serviced. I have not gotten anybody (mechanic) to look at it yet but is there anything in particular that might need to be changed or could it be that 6 months out, it might need to be tightened or check the bolts. But since it sat for 3 days and not moved, any ideas? It is definitely transmission fluid.
It could be something simple like the trans pan gasket is leaking or maybe a leaking input or output shaft seal. Can you get under the truck and take a look? This could also be coming from a transfer case seals as well. Lotta places to leak and enough miles on the truck to warrant these leaks. How is the trans fluid level? Check the transfer case too.
