Truck is a Frankenstein, I think axles (d44hd / d60) are 1976, cab is a 72, 400 motor not sure what year. Brakes build pressure and are normal when truck isn’t running, when truck is running pedal goes right to the floor. Can’t find any leaks anywhere, bled brakes plenty of times. Also noticed that the spring retainer pin on the driver rear drum keeps falling out when truck is rolling and brakes are applied, figured it might be the self adjuster so I removed it but problem is still happening.

Did this problem just start suddenly?
In general there are three possibilities 1. Fluid leak, 2. Master cylinder bad, 3. Severaly misadjusted shoes (too much free play) or mismatched/incorrect brake hardware creating too much travel before shoes make contact with drum.
Make sure shoes are adjusted manually for very slight drag.
With too much air in system typically you'll have some braking but a spongy pedal.

just bought the truck a couple months ago and finally got it running and everything else good to drive. We’ve looked thoroughly and don’t see any leaks, shoes are adjusted properly and to the best of my knowledge are the correct brakes for the truck, I just bought new of what was there already. Next thing on my list was getting a new master cylinder but I’m not sure which one to get because of the year mixup. Any idea why the spring pin thing would be falling out?
The width of the shoes need to be checked against the drums
Good chance the wrong shoes were on it when you got it?
About the only things that will cause your trouble is too narrow of a shoe or possibly the E brake being partially applied, or the shoes so loose they walk in the drum

measured them and they’re correct. Just to test something I tightened them to much and when the truck is on the pedal goes straight to the floor but when truck is off it can only be pressed a little before they lock up
