Lamp socket advice

79 f250, has a 76 grill and headlights if that makes a difference on the plug.

Hey guys looking for some advice here, my brake lights and signals randomly quit working. I still have headlights. Brake lights work when headlights are off, one goes out then one works. I’ve cleaned up the main ground at all lights to the body. I think it’s the connections inside the sockets, especially the little ground spring clip.
what is my quickest fix here, as I need my truck for work. It seems to be the rear lamp sockets that are in the worst shape and likley the culprit. I’m not even getting a blinking noise in the cab when signalling.
And or what is my long term option. I can’t seem to find the oem sockets online. Is there a simple modern conversion. I don’t mean LED or anything, I prefer the stock lights.
any advice would be so helpful! Cheers and thanks

Okay I ordered 4 Dorman sockets, looks like the rear signal/brakelight/running lights have the same socket as the front signal socket. Hoping that’s the case and also hoping this fixes me issue.
what would be the next culprit if this doesn’t fix it? Preparing myself

Very likely that will fix your problem, sockets are the most common problem with light issues.

If that doesn't do it the turn signal switch would be the next thing. it can mess up everything except the headlights.

Hopefully the sockets take care of it. The old Ford light sockets love causing weird issues once they get crusty inside.

Honestly sounds like you're on the right track already. If it still acts up after that, I'd probably start looking at the turn signal switch like mentioned above.
