I'm sure this has been beaten to death but I couldn't find the threads.
I haven't changed my own oil since my 7.3L PDS and am looking to start on my 2024 HO 6.7L. I'm not too impressed looking at the specs of the Motorcraft filter. something like 24 micron filtration... there are some aftermarket filters that claim as low as 4 micron and one that has an adapter to use a Cat 1R-1807 filter.
Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket filters or the conversion to a Cat filter? Am I trying to fix something that isn't broke?
CAT uses Motocraft filters on their 6.7l service trucks. That CAT filter deosnt have a bypass valve. Does the 6.7 have a bypass elsewhere on the engine? Youre going to have the biggest micron hole in your filter media if you run full flow in the winter.
If you want to be weird about oil, just change it more often. Every 5k will do, and is overkill.

Compare the filters.
PPE Premium High-Efficiency filter has 98.7% efficiency at 15 microns and 50% efficiency at 5 microns
Motorcraft has 98% efficiency at 18 microns
Donaldson P502503 is 99% at 15 microns
The difference is pretty small I mean 98.7% at 15 microns vs 98% at 18 microns
My two cents... I used the Motorcraft for the first 1500 miles, swapped to 5w40 full syn with the Donaldson until 5000 miles, and went PPE with 5w40 from then on. I have had great results with the PPE and the UOA's have all been great. I could run longer intervals but stick with 5000 miles as it is easy to remember and cheap insurance IMHO. On my 21, I used the Donaldson for 65K miles and all UOA's were great. I've cut every filter open on my 24, 21, 17 and 16 MY trucks and never had anything bad in them, noting that on my 17 and 16 I ran the older version of the Motorcraft. The only issue I ever had was with a Baldwin on my 17 causing my engine to clatter, and we could only surmise that was because of its lower micron absolute put a strain on my oil pump which was probably finicky to begin with. So, I am not disparaging the Baldwins at all, they are damn good filters. My order of preference would be:
1. PPE Filter
2. Donaldson Filter (if I lived in a climate that saw temps frequently below 20 degrees F I would run Donaldson over the PPE until Summer)
3.Baldwin Filter (provided no engine clatter and in warmer temps as I believe these are 8 micron absolute)
4. Motorcraft Filter

1. I tried the baldwin 8 micron filter once and had moaning in the engine and was the only time I ever had metal dust on my magnetic drain plug. so stopped using it.
2. I went to a 25 micron stain less steel mesh filter for higher flow and a 2 micron by pass...that worked pretty well.
3. decided I needed more ports so I actually did go with the SPE CAT conversion that involves the new oil head manifold. SPE claims 30% more flow thru the oil filter head and 20 microns absolute and 4 micron nomial on the CAT filter. BUT...what I did not know when I bought the setup and installed it was that the CAT filter or any filter with the CAT thread size has an internal by pass...which could be a problem during cold starts.
4. Also, the only problem that really needs a fix is the drain back from the 2 ft or so internal oil pick up tube...the reason why you have a 2 to 3 second delay in the console showing oil pressure. for that I installed and oil pre lube pump the presserizes the oil passages before start and upon starting the oil pressure guage shows instant pressure.
5. of couese if you are in warranty land...motorcraft is the only way to go else ford will say you caused the failure.
