See above, the XD is ok at 35 microns nominal (50%). The MC FL-1995 is actually pretty good. 18 microns at 98.6% (absolute.) The best oil filter IMHO is the Donaldson ELF7405, designed to go on a 3406 Cat engine IIRC...15 microns absolute and 7 nominal.
I was looking at the 51792 xd how many miles is the filter good for with rotella t 15 40
The Wix 51792XD cross references to the ELF7405, it is the extended drain filter for the 3406 cat. Again the wix is ok, 35 microns nominal, but the Donaldson is better. The MC filter is good but not designed for extended drains.
Both the Wix filter and the Donaldson are stacked full flow and by pass filters. Baldwin and FG offer them too.
Assuming the truck is running well and not soot loading the oil you should have no problem getting 7500-10,000 miles out of the rotella. You should do a UOA just to be safe.

So do I understand correctly the motorcraft filters better than the 51792XD? I can't find the Donaldson filter anywhere so it's between MC and the XD.

Yes the MC filter is better in the sense that it has a lower micron rating than the Wix. However the wix has a larger capacity than the MC so it would be better suited for extended drain. Really the 7.3 isn't super super picky about oil filters but since the dead dinos in my oil pan are being worked pretty hard good filtration is a good idea.
I don't mean to be pushing it but is sounds like the Donaldson would suit you pretty well. Ryderfleetproducts.com has the Donaldson for like 24 bucks each. FG and baldwin make extended drain filters with slightly better ratings then the Wix too.
