like the thread title says im looking for some good headers that won't break the bank for the truck in my sig. any suggestions? and for someone whos never gone any further than changin the oil and etc, would i be able to do it myself with a haynes manual? or would it be best to take it to a shop?
i recently put some pacesetter headers on my truck that i paid about $230 for. check out www.truckperformance.com . about installing them, they can be a pain in the butt. but if you feel confindent you should be able to install them. i would make sure on the passenger side to take out your fenderwell as it will make it alot easier. also, make sure you use the high temp lock-tite b/c the bolts will come loose and cause problems.
I have heard nothing but horror stories about Pacesetter products. You should check out www.proficientperformance.com for very competitive pricing, as well as a great selection of different manufacturers. That is where I purchased my current complete Bassani Street Thunder exhaust system.
Poor machining, poor flanges, misaligned bolt holes, misaligned header collectors, etc and so forth. I purchased a Pacesetter catback, and I was horrified with the quality! The casing for the muffler appeared to have been cut out of sheetmetal by a person with alzheimers. It was all jagged, there were weld marks everywhere. Just very poor!
I'm looking for headers too. I'm sold on tuned headers for best engine performance and quality construction. I found Hooker makes tuned headers for around $300 bucks. They are a little pricey but as it goes "You get what you pay for". I'm looking for some other makes of tuned headers too.
Ford motorsport shorties are very good quality and made out of stainless steel and importantly everything lined up and they bolted on perfectly. The price on these is around 280 bucks.
